They do say something that when all hope are gone, thatâs when the devil set in to test any hopeless person. Othanel without hesitation left the house the next day early in the morning to the Native doctor house. He took along the photos the man requested. He told his sisterâs to be with their mother in the hospital she was refer to that he will be back soon. When he got to the Baba house, he entered hoping to see him inside and he wasnât in. He returns outside looking around the axis to know where he might be. The place is inside bushy area with just the small hut built in the middle of the forest. He Wonder where he could have gone. His mind was drifting apart. One at the hospital and the second at where he is.
âWhere on earth could he have gone â He talked to himself still looking around.
âWho is there?â The Baba asked from the back of his hut.
âBaba it is me, it is me. I have been waiting for you.
âAnd is that your good morning?.
âohh I am sorry. Good morning, how was your night? I hope you slept fine, but as for me I couldnât because my life right now is at the bridge of collapsing. Can we enter so that you can help my life please.
He was talking nonstop until the Baba interrupted him. âI can see that you are in deep siege of calamity.
âExactly baba, exactly! I am desperately in need. I donât want my mother to die please. She must not di.e. let go inside Baba.
âYour mother? What happened to her?â He entered and he followed.
âShe is seriously sick right now Baba. I need money to help her out of it. Please Baba help me.
âYour mother is sick and you need money.
âExactly sir. So quickly do it for me so that I can have the money to save her.
The man laughed shaking his head before seating down.
âAnd have you made up your mind about it?
â100% right Baba. I am really really ready. Here is the pictures you ask me to bring.
The man collected the pictures and then look at him again. He check each person in the photo thoroughly again and then smiled.
âYour father is no longer with you again right?
âYes sir, he abandoned us and go to where we donât know.
âhmmm, donât worry. I know what to do. Bring your left hand.
He showed him and the Baba did a finger rotation on his palm while whispering some words. He then ask him to knee down and after that he took blade and cut the tip of his middle finger as bl.ood gushes out. He then took a small bowl and deep his finger into it in other for the bl.ood to drop into the bowl. Othanel was gnashing in pains due to the cut but he was enduring it with the aim of becoming rich. After taking the amount of bl.ood wanted, he was blindfolded with a red cloth by the man. The man did his incantations on him as he walk around with a bowl of calabash in his hand.
He has put in othanel family pictures with a mark of his bl.ood he has collected in the calabash. After thirty minutes of his invocation, Othanel fell down and got up again.
Few minutes Later
âNow, you can go home.
âIs that all Baba?
âYes.
âha, thank you so much!
Thank you very much sir, may God bless you.
âHmmâ He mumbled.
âSo how will I see the money? Will it appeared to me or what?
âRelax, just relax your mind.
âI know sir, but I am asking because of my mother IâŚâ
âI said relax your mind. You can go, and come back tomorrow.
âI should come again tomorrow Baba. But why? I thought you said thatâs all.
âYou think thatâs how easy it is to have money.
âI donât get it Baba. Easy as how?
âAs you are going home now, make sure you donât allow anyone to hug you. Immediately you get home, off this cloth you are wearing and burn it immediately. Or elseâŚ.â
âOr else what Baba?
âNothing, absolutely nothing. But make sure you donât hug and the cloth should be burnt. And when coming tomorrow, take (he collected it) buy a white handkerchief and pour this liquid into it. And as you are coming, make sure you look around very well. Any mad man you meet or see as you are coming. Go closer to him and give him 200 naira after wrapping it in the handkerchief.
âIs that all Baba?.
âYes, thatâs all.
Well, he left the Baba house and headed home just has he said. He didnât bother to call his siblings because he knew they will be in the hospital. He was singing in his mind as he approaches their house and as he opened the door he was shocked and wanted to run outside when he felt a wrap on his body.
âYou are welcome brother. We have goodnews for you.
He pushed her away and she fell hitting her buttock so hard on the floor and yelled painful.
âWhy did you push me Othanel!
Othanel mouth was opened speechlessly standing on a spot like a robot.
