“EYES EVERYWHERE”
Sontee’s pov
Staying indoors without rolling out a day is never my thing, not when I am already in my state, Toronto, after the gracious evasion from the shackles of the cops back at Ontario, which is just a few months past. Ever since I lost my family and had my evasion, my life has tended to be solitude and sullen, and that happens within my own apartment. I’ve always been stuck in my room without a care in the world. Whenever I’m famished, I don’t put myself to stress; I just do my orders within the home, and it gets delivered straight to my apartment. But the life of solitude and sullen blew over when I came across a once-discriminated mate of mine named Chloe. She is a Black Canadian, busty, and young lady. However, the life I was living when I arrived at Toronto got rectified after the coincidence meeting. She talked me out of my solitude and sullen life genuinely and compassionately, which also made a good friendship between us today. Since then, I became lively again, e.g., hanging out or having some awe-walks, etc.
Despite all that, there is still a situation whereby I fall back into the melancholic and sullen lifestyle. Exceptionally, it is never better than the traumatic experiences I have been battling with during the years. But, however, one thing I never failed to do is hang out without disguise, despite my evasion from Ontario. In fact, the smear news of my evasion from the crime I didn’t commit has been spreading across the states in Canada like wildfire each day because those who committed it never halted doing their nasty deeds, and that’s dragging me into pits of more implications. Since that is happening, firstly, the freedom to move around as I want is limited. Secondly, I disguise myself, and it is most of the time whenever I’m present outdoors. All I do is put on fake hair, that’s a darkish blonde wig to keep my natural reddish hair hidden from sight, and also keep my little freckles hidden under makeup. If there isn’t makeup, there wasn’t denial and resistance to using a face mask because my identification has been proclaimed publicly in every state in Canada. I must say the smear news is one of the biggest hits in town now.
However, I decided to go for a cool ride this dusk around 5 p.m. For seconds, I stood at my wardrobe, ruminating on what dresses to slip into. But eventually, I picked out an armless white twisted knitted sweater and slipped into it with a black leather skirt on skin-tight net leggings. Lastly, I wore my black leather boots heels and exited my apartment straight to where my metallic black Yamaha MT 15 bike is always parked. All thanks to Max Freddie, who showered sympathy upon me. I was able to get myself a brand new power bike and own a small restaurant of mine with some young, trusted employees hired there to run my business. Ever since I invested in it, it has been thriving consistently. I could say I make bucks of dollars from it, and whatever goes on within the restaurant, I’m always alert without being kept in the dark. So, I didn’t lack any good things in any way.
By the way, I mounted my power bike as soon as I got to where it was parked. Just then, two of the known neighbors also emerged from their mansion, and they happened to be thugs with no clothes except baggy trousers and boots. One has bald hair with a medium height, while the other has long dreads arranged in a ponytail style and is tall in height. They had tattoos all over their bodies and a few parts of their faces, and from the look of their appearance, they were no different from MS-13, not to mention the wrapped long weed they puffed immensely. In addition, they are known for violence and are troublemakers in the street with the rest of their gangs. At times, it wondered me why they haven’t been apprehended yet for their acts of violence.
But, however, the two thugs walked up to me after having slight eye contact with them. As soon as they got to my side, they began to act bossy and frivolous, and it was either one of these options: either to get my attention or cause trouble. The two presences alone could attract ignorance from lots of people because they had this body odor that could make one die of nausea at that moment, not to mention the stench breath passing out of their mouths. I wondered what kind of life these thugs lived. During the time of their interaction with me, they were no different from the ants on the floor because I didn’t give them the rapt attention they needed at that moment. Instead, I couldn’t help but cough due to their stench smells. While they acted frivolously and bossy towards me, all I did was wear my gloves with poise.
Riled by my silence and ignorance, the one with the bald hair suddenly walloped me across the face, and the force of his palm swept my gaze in another direction for seconds. Truly, it hurt when a person is being ignored, but playing an assault on such ignorance is an act of total abuse. The excruciating pain and burning sensation I felt after the slap almost made me dizzy. I know there’s no way my slammed cheek won’t be reddish, not after receiving a hot slap at that moment. I wondered what kind of hand the specific guy had, but the infuriation that raged wildly within me caused a swift, balled fist hard. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he spat on my neck and told me off. As for his partner in crime, he smacked my butt hard and chuckled satisfactorily.
Hood 2: Ouch, man! That one f-cking hurt!
.
Hood 1: Back off. (face sontee) And you, who do you think you are? Just a pretty face? You’re nothing here. I run these streets. My crew and I, we’re the ones in charge. So, speak when I speak.
As soon as he was done casting his statement, he spat on me again. Words couldn’t be expressed for how riled I was with his insolence. One part of me wanted to be inured. Another part of me wanted prompt vengeance within minutes. But the overheated rage within me wasn’t going to let the situation go easily, not after the abuse of my own rights, and I was ready to unleash the rage anytime soon at that moment. Firstly, I had to lay back before giving him a taste of his own medicine.
Hood 1: (puffs weed) B-tch, have I made myself clear?
.
Sontee: (looking at her sideways in silence) !?
.
Hood 1: (discard weed) B-TCH, ARE YOU LISTENING? I’M TALKING TO YOU. OR DO I NEED TO REMIND YOU AGAIN?
.
Hood 2: Yo, homie, let’s roll. Leave this bimbo alone. Let’s get going. We’ve got a job to do, courtesy of the big boss.
.
Hood 1: Yeah, I know. I’m not blind or deaf. Have you forgotten your role? Have you forgotten who I am to the big boss? I’m still the underboss. You don’t tell me what to do. We’re friends, but show some respect. I deserve it. Get it straight, I’m not leaving till I say so. I’m teaching this jerk a lesson. Got it? Else, next time, I won’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
.
Hood 2: Got it, boss. (muttering) Suit yourself!
.
Hood 1: (looks at Sontee) Hey, you got a death wish? I dare you to look me in the eye, I’m talking to you. This is your last warning, have I made my point clear already?
.
Sontee: (looks at him sincerely) Of course, thanks… Your slap had a great impact on me recently. But do you know what happens to those who act too mighty?
.
Hood 1: (scowling) Oh, make me!
.
Sontee: I trample them under my feet!
As soon as I said that, I grasped my GDM ghost helmet and walloped him across the face, which sent him crumpling. As a result, he nosebleed and passed out promptly from the hit he received, which took me by surprise with the thought that the one who invented the helmet did a fine great job. He/she knows their job too well. I couldn’t believe my helmet would conquer him so easily. Besides, the helmet is made strong and hard, which is enough to knock out any person. With my first victory, I felt the bald head is an exceptional freaking loser and coward.
Seeing that his partner in crime had been conquered, the one with dreadlocks’ expression moved with sudden shock. It was like he didn’t see that coming. But then, the expression on his face renewed instantly with a glare that could kill, wrapping both his fists. Before he could retaliate, I switched with good agility and raised my left leg over my power bike and swept his gaze to another direction with a mighty roundhouse kick at the mandible. He lurched, inheriting a few miles between us. For seconds, there was a dead silence between us, which also put a pause to his movement for a check-up. He grasped his mouth and spat out blood upon his right palm. His eyes widened in shock and rage. Then, he glared at me with murder in his bloody eyes. In a matter of seconds, he charged towards me with a flick-knife in his hand for a slash.
In the nick of time, I ducked out of harm’s way and leaped off my bike with a quick somersault, flexibly backward, squatting and balancing on one knee on the ground while I grasped my helmet with the other hand. I flicked my blonde hair, closing half of my face over my earlobe, and analyzed him with a stealthy look while he told me off boastfully.
Hood 2: You motherf~~ker, I’m gonna rip you off, tear you into pieces and feed your bodies to my Alsatians
.
Sontee: (mean voice) That’s a big threat, but let’s see you try, dumbass
.
Hood 2: (clouts his chest furiously) Argh, you little cunt, dare you talk to me like that? Do you know who I am here?
.
Sontee: (sneers frowningly) A boss hunt dog!
.
Hood 2: ARRGH!!! YOU DARE CALL ME THAT?? A BOSS DOG HUNT?? (stomps from one side to another, banging his head with the heels of his palms furiously)
.
Sontee: What else can a filthy wanker like you be, rather than a hunt dog?
.
Hood 2: ARRGH, My knife craves blood. My hands crave blood. The road needs a taste of blood and flesh, and I’m gonna make that happen. I’ll make your life a living hell for calling me that. You won’t live to see the next day. (steeples his fingers) I’ll TEAR you. I’ll SQUEEZE you. (balls his fists) I will CRUSH you. I won’t just feed you to my Alsatians, but I promise I’M GONNA SPREAD YOUR DEAD BODIES ON THE STREETS LIKE AN ANIMAL.
.
Sontee: (sneers) Enough! It’s easier said than done, they say. Don’t just stand there, swaggering; get to action. I guess you have something vital to accomplish. I also have somewhere vital to go. Save my time, dumbass!
.
Hood 2: Save your ass, b-tch. You’re dead already!
For the second time, he charged at me with his flick-knife wildly. Firmly and stealthily, I analyzed his movement before weaving the sharp edge of his blade into the same position. I swung myself flexibly to the left side and walloped him across the knee cap, causing him excruciating pain. He winced and grunted, caressing the knee, spilling curses under his breath. Seeing the state he was in, I sneered wickedly with no empathy, as how to end it was the only aim at that very moment, and I was just a few meters away from him. He launched the knife at me, gnashing his teeth like a hyena. Luckily for me, I weaved it in the nick of time and charged towards him. This time, he was in an unbalanced stance, followed by grunts and murderous glares from him due to his weakened knee. Weakly, he threw a hook punch, but unfortunately for him, I ducked. Before he could go any further with his assault, I leaped and threw him an uppercut straight at the mandible (jaw). He stumbled before I knocked the sense out of him with the surface of my helmet hard, which made him lose balance and crumple.
Unsatisfied, I mounted on his stomach, grasping both sides of my helmet, and thrashed him. In that moment, eyes were feasting on us, but I was less concerned as I caused lots of bruises and injuries on his face with several ferocious strikes of my helmet. He had passed out from the first hard strike, but I didn’t halt until I had exhausted my strength and was satisfied with my wicked deeds. With my legs opposite him, I stood and gasped heavily, fixing on the damaged face, which had already been painted with his blood. The next thing, I faced heavenward and chuckled cynically like a psycho without any reason or figuration. After that, I passed over him straight to my bike and mounted on it. I cleaned up the helmet, which had been stained by the blood of the defeated one, and wore it before I maneuvered out of the parking space. At that moment, two police cars passed me by unnoticeably. Instantly, I knew it was as a result of the scrimmage, which one of the people watching us must have alerted them about, but as for me, I rode off speedily, keeping tons of miles away from each other.
My plan was to go for a ride, but I rectified the thought and dropped by a big bar 15 minutes later. I parked my bike, pulled off the helmet, and locked it into the bike before heading briskly into the bar, which was filled with many people of different colors, heights, and classes. As soon as I had gotten into the bar, some heads turned, and lustful eyes feasted on me like I’m some alien or something. I cared less about the lustful-looking eyes and searched for an unoccupied seat to sit with my eyes for a while. Luckily, I caught up with one and headed towards it briskly. Few among the lustful-looking eyes whispered to each other about what God knows.
Man 1: Whoa, Look who’s here, man?
.
Man 2: Yeah, she’s a doppelgänger of a tycoon athlete I see on TV
.
Man 3: B-tch, be dreaming! To be frank, that booty, she’s hot. Man, look at her cleavage, I’m no freaky guy. It’s quite lovely to sight. I don’t want to sound stupid, but no guy lays his head on that and still has awful dreams.
.
Man 2: Speaking of her cleavage, it’s not half as good as her heart-shaped butt cheeks I’m viewing right now, man (salivating).
.
Man 4: Guys, can we be sensible here for a second? I hope we haven’t forgotten what we’re all here for, huh?
.
Man 3: Yeah, we know, okay?
.
Man 2: Aha!!
.
Man 3: And stop being bossy here!
.
Man 4: This isn’t about being bossy. We’re here for business, jerk, not to discuss stupid things.
.
Man 3: F-ck your damn mouth! Who the hell are you calling a jerk? Are you mad? Do you have a death wish?
.
Man 1: Alright! Alright! Alright, wise man. There’s no cause for any mayhem here. Statistically, he’s right regarding what we’re actually here for – not to view some asses around. Disappointingly, he went too far by calling you a ‘jerk’. I must say that’s absolutely amiss and impolite. I’m not saying he’s the only one at fault here; we’re all included. Regardless, we must all know that respect is reciprocal. We should respect each other, no matter what, okay?
.
Man 4: Precisely. But regardless, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to utter such scurrilous (abusive) words to you, man.
.
Man 3: No worries, I’m sorry too!
.
Man 1: Dope, where were we?
The lustful-looking eyes and whatever they said didn’t give me any bother as I walked to where I had spotted and had my sit quietly. Shortly after my arrival, a female bar attendant served me. I ordered what I needed at that moment. Within minutes, she offered me booze and scrammed to attend other people, leaving me with my drink solitary, which was just vodka. Whilst I enjoyed my drink, I noticed a swarthy guy who was a few meters away from where I was sitting, feasting his sleepy deep blue eyes at me like a doll baby. In my life, that was my first time seeing a black man with deep blue eyes. Inconveniently, I switched my head back and looked back at him if he wasn’t staring at me mistakenly for another person, only for me to see he was actually feasting his eyes at me without a blink. I wondered what and why he fixed at me like that because his looks were sure stealthily. At that moment, I needn’t any counsel from anyone to tell me what the look was all about. For some reasons, I couldn’t help but shower the guy with little seconds of admiration. He is cute and baby-faced, not to mention his much-faded haircut style and a pretty boy goatee beard he has, like the kinds of Will Smith, but it is much more. In addition, he has his two ears pierced with earrings and an ectomorph figure. He looked splendor. From the look of his appearance, I could tell he is 25 years of age if not 24.
To me, he was kind of familiar, but I didn’t put it into any deep thought because I felt things like that happen occasionally. At that moment, I even forgot about him and picked up my phone and began to check out old times’ pictures of me and my relatives. As I scrolled past the pictures in my phone, I felt an instant forlornness and burning sensation, not to mention the goosebumps that claimed my flesh. My eyes welled up with uncontrollably tears, and I felt like ruining every single thing in the bar at that moment. I do crazy things whenever that feeling of forlornness grips me, but I wasn’t gonna let my problem ruin other people’s moments.
I scrammed and followed by the lustful looking eyes before I lose control of myself. Hastily, I head to where I had parked my power bike, almost overbalanced. As soon as I got to it, I clutched onto my chest and began to tear up silently like a kid beside my power bike. At that melancholic moment of my life, I picked up a scent of the unknown and sensed someone was at my back. Whoever it is, I felt he/she was up to no good at all. Within a matter of seconds, I overpowered and brought the person down flat with a good agility of a roundhouse kick out of control and mounted on his stomach, clenching onto the collar tight. Fuddled by rage and pains, I wrapped my fist and raised it behind my face, trying to go for another damage as tears circled both my eyes at that moment. Before there could be any damages, the one overpowered had spilled out the beans with a gentle voice, showing off my earring. To my utmost surprise, I realized it was the guy I saw earlier in the bar.
Abushe: Hi, I’m Abushe. Please, don’t hurt me. I don’t mean any harm. I’m just here to return the earring to you. I saw it on the floor in the area where you sat at the bar, and I believe it’s yours. It must have fallen off without you noticing. Fear was written in the eyes of the poor guy. But instantly, I detached from him backwardly and fixed at each other whilst he still laid on the floor holding the earring towards my direction. I climbed on my bike in a tearing hurry and sped off, leaving the earring with him. Throughout the ride, I was silent in deep tears. Minutes later, I arrived home and parked my bike somewhere safe and reliable. Then, I exited into the building, taking some steps before I got into my apartment. As soon as I got into my apartment, I locked the door behind me with my back leaned against it and immersed tearfully, clutching onto my chest like a person pierced there. I became overbalanced and incumbent, embracing the pillows on my bed onto myself with tears trickling down my cheeks till the pillow was damped with my tears drop. For some reasons, I was regretful and remorseful. There was nothing that made me feel more gloomy than having that unnecessary hatred for my father and brother before their demise.
Firstly, I squandered all the glorious moments I was supposed to enjoy with them because of their skin color. The worst part is the unreceived forgiveness that death took along with them. Whenever there’s a recollection of those memories, remorse and regrets find me no matter how much I hide. Even if it’s in the deepest part of hell, I get descended upon by those words “remorse” and “regret”. Every now and then, I ask myself, why was it the day I craved their forgiveness that death took them away? Why? I feel like I screwed up big time. I slept off with tears glistening on my cheeks.
Tbc…
