The Kansas City Chiefs’ creativity is encouraging other sports teams in the area. Kansas State head coach Jerome Tang called a really inventive inbounds play in the final seconds of his team’s Round of 32 game against Kentucky on Sunday.
He had three of his players line up on the baseline before two of them jumped out to create a bubble screen. This allowed the third player, guard Markquis Nowell, to easily receive the inbounds pass.

The Wildcats advanced to the Sweet Sixteen with a 75-69 win against the sixth-seeded Kentucky Wildcats in the field of 32, their highest finish in the NCAA tournament since 2018—quite an accomplishment for first-year head coach Jerome Tang.
Tang told reporters after the game that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs inspired the inbounds play. “We call it ‘Mahomes,'” Tang explained. Mahomes has reacted to the viral play and is obviously happy that he and his teammates were able to inspire another team.
