Even Super Bowl champions, like the Kansas City Chiefs, cannot keep their complete roster together. On Wednesday, the Chiefs lost defensive tackle Khalen Saunders to the New Orleans Saints. Saunders, 26, is expected to sign a three-year deal with his new squad.
Saunders, the 84th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, appeared in only 22 games in his first three seasons due to several injuries. Patrick Mahomes saluted the former third-round pick on Twitter after news of his signing broke.
“Congrats big dawg! @khalenNOTkaylen. Going to miss locker room basketball tho!” Mahomes wrote. Saunders replied Mahomes’ message, he wrote “Love brotha hold it down for me! I know my Jersey in the rafters in that locker room fasho lol”.
Other teammates also sent farewell messages to Khalen Saunders.
