When the Chiefs opted to release Frank Clark, he quickly established himself as one of the greatest edge-defenders in a weak free-agent class. At 29 years old, Clark picked up 10.5 sacks in four postseason appearances with the Chiefs.
He’s an experienced veteran with a skill set that many clubs would want to have, even if he’s only a rotational player. Despite his advanced age, Clark generated 56 quarterback pressures last year for Kansas City.
The Saints are a team that may put him in the starting lineup. Marcus Davenport had a subpar year last season, but his presence in the rotation will be missed. With Cam Jordan entering his 34th season, the Saints may want to sign a veteran like Clark to take some of his snaps.
The New Orleans Saints have a lot of salary cap space to deal with, so it makes sense for them to invest in a new pass rusher after allowing Marcus Davenport leave in free agency.
The Saints might be willing to overlook Clark’s off-field distractions as they already have numerous players that have criminal charges against them in the past.
